But, one way or another, the guests win every time.

Your choice

Abisko offers a great choice of summer activities and has done ever since the beginning of the last century.

  • Kåppasjokk cave system - one of Sweden´s longest cave systems. Waterfalls, stalactites and stalagmites and a bite to eat in underground caverns

  • > To the top of Nuolja: 2-4 hours
  • We take the chairlift up Mount Nuolja to admire the view across Lake Torneträsk and the Lapporten mountain. The guide tells you about the area and its history with Lapp people and navvies

  • > The Rombak Tour: All-day excursion
  • We take the train to Katterat and walk down from the mountain to the verdant summer in Rombak. The guide tells you the local history about the navvies and the War. The ferry draws alongside the jetty and carries us through the beautiful Rombak fjord to Narvik. From there, your journey by train winds along the mountainsides back to Abisko and the peaks.

  • > Lunch excursion on Torneträsk:
  • We take the Rib boat out onto the lake for a view of Lapporten and the majestic mountains which are reflected in the water. Go ashore for lunch

  • > Hike to Kärkevagge: All-day excursion
  • Here the inland ice left enormous boulders on the most beautiful mountain meadows in Sweden. If we´re lucky, we´ll find stones with glittering garnets embedded in them. We arrive at Trollsjön at the very end of the valley, a lake whose waters are so clear that you can see the bottom 40 metres below.

  • > Låkktatjåkko Mountain Station: Long, all-day excursion
  • After the train journey to Låkkta, we make our way on foot through the valley up towards the mountain station. The guide tells you about the area and what we see.

  • > Visit to the Nature Centre and walk along the Rallarvägen trail.
  • After a guided tour round the Nature Centre, we head off in search of the plants and animal tracks that we have just been learning about. The guide also tells us about the toilsome and arduous life of the navvies at the start of the last century.

  • > The art of hunting grouse with a pointer
  • Joachim Almgren and his prize hunting dog treat you to an exciting hunting display and an enlightening talk on grouse hunting with pointers. Leaving you wiser about the differences between the willow grouse and ptarmigan, hunting methods, the interplay between hunter and dog and how bird dogs are trained.
